My new video blog! Part 1

Another summer gone! Another season started!

Welcome back! Well we are but a few days away from kick starting , what will hopefully be another fantastic, action packed, drama filled, leg kicking , point shoe wearing , ball busting season! We start off with an 8 week run with Atlantic Ballets critically acclaimed 'World of Shadows|Phantom the ballet , which is essentially the classic tale of Phantom of the opera! Not the cheesy musical no! Based on the well loved book by Gaston Leroux. I had the pleasure of dancing Christines lover Raoul, which means lots of acting, love pas de deuxs , cute romantic glances And a full on fight scene which I LOVE! I absolutely throw myself around like a lunatic. I just have to make it look believable right!? KEEPING THE ZING...

What an exciting 2 weeks / weekend. I shall take a vow to only drink water and teas for this week, no wine, no champagne , nothing proof!

Well to start off, i took some of the soloists in the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada into our 2nd studio, which is used for filming and rehearsals with the set before we head to the theatre. We put up some lights, brought some clothes to choose from, blasted the music, used Kyles camera and shot ourselves a wee music video to an up-coming single i am releasing world-wide on iTunes. THe track is called 'I Felt Space Or So I Thought' and i have to say it is one of my favorite ones to date.

So i really wanted to add a third dimension. The Idea behind it was a dark, dimly lit, club vibe, very sensual and very sexy, which the song isn't necessarily , i feel it has a more uplifting quality... but this is just the vision i had for my first official music video. It was a lot of fun to shoot. I filmed and edited it, so i wasnt expecting some great master piece from myself, but i look on it as an achievement and also at the fun we had making it. It does of course help to have insanely talented friends to star in it.

We Also , this last weekend had a party... The Models : High Fashion Couture Party Extravaganza. The idea was to create a couture or zany stylish look. We had an absolute blast! We all had to catwalk our looks as well as have a photoshoot when we entered the party. What really helped the party along was the open bar of complimentary Cosmos ! I do know how to through a party!

We also opened on Friday for our 8 week run of World of Shadows : The Phantom - Phantom of the Opera the Ballet. I have a really fantastic role, Raoul, Christine's Lover who has to fight the Phantom. Its exciting, lots of dancing and LOTS of acting. So i am going to enjoy such a long run where we can really develop the character and our artistry a lot.

Keeping extremely busy really does add some zing into my step. I do enjoy being busy and productive and urge everyone to not let a moment slip by.

NEW BLOG, NEW START!

Well ! its been over a year since i blogged. i guess i didn't realize how popular my blog was until i saw that visitor stats, and thought maybe it was time i got back on this old thingy!

Well , a lot has happened since i last wrote. I am now, as i am sure most of you are aware, in Canada! Its so beautiful here! And , rather ironically, its officially 'CANADA DAY'

So my friends and I are heading down to the river to watch the fireworks and enjoy the Canadian festivities! Who knows! Maybe we might actually get the flag painted on our faces... thats what they do right?

Work is hard. We are working on Phantom of the Opera the Ballet, which we have already toured in a sell out tour in Germany and then around the Atlantic of Canada. Its an 8 week run, which is quite long for us. Then a we start 'GHOSTS OF VIOLENCE' again. We already had the premier in Ottawa in February , but now we do a huge Nationwide tour all over Canada, which is so freaking exciting! Dates ect of when and where the shows will be are on the company website (www.atlanticballet.ca) They also made it into a film! and we have some preview excerpts available to preview. Its a very important issue that we tackle with the ballet... Domestic Violence. So i really enjoy doing the lead role in this ballet. Its important that this ballet is strong enough to firstly raise awareness but also to entice a dialogue and give the victims so kind of voice.

hard work + waiting = very frustrated leigh!

I feel like i have been busting my ass! im working so insanely hard at the moment! Lots going on!

Well my album has just launched worldwide on Itunes, which is exciting and extremely nerve- wrecking! Its a collection of songs that i have been working on for a very long time, so it feels good to finally see the finished product, only problem is, its electro music and that really isnt a very commercially viable product, i guess what you call a specific / target audience product. But hell i don't care, i am happy with it.

Should have really slept more tonght... i have a music video to shoot today , should last about 5 + hours so, im gonna look slightly rough no doubt!

Did a very interesting casting today for a short film, 'we once were tide' , great concept, great script, great team.... even better competition! haha, i tried, it was an impro workshop audition, very scary, as im not exactly an actor. But great experience and i felt a learned a lot, but it knocked my confidence when i actually cast the film with two very appropriate guys before we started, the very two, that im almost certainly will do it, and i hope they do, they were so right for it and i know i will be so happy to see what the do with the roles, although i would have loved to do it, well, we shall see.... don't know till they say no!


Signing contracts for my gala show, its all a bit to high faluting! Have no idea what the hell its saying to me, so im just signing away!

God i need to start dating again! very bored... im so used to flirting, its a very Leigh thing and i fell like i've lost a little bit of Leigh's spark... so need to start getting out there and meeting new people.

NEED TO DATE! NEED TO GET MY SOCIAL LIFE BACK!

PRESS RELEASE FOR MY GALA SHOW TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE HAITI DISASTER...

'Stars of the Arts'
(in aid of the Haiti Appeal)
JUNE 19th 2010



A devastating earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale struck Haiti on 12 January 2010, killing an estimated 50,000 and affecting at least one million people. The situation in the capital Port-au-Prince and other nearby areas is dire, with hundreds of thousands of people in urgent need of assistance.

Stars of the Arts come together for one night only to raise money for the people of Haiti. Award winning professional ballet dancer Leigh Alderson, who trained at the Royal Ballet School, presents a collaboration of guests at The Market Place Theatre, Market Street,Armagh City
Co. Armagh, BT61 7BW on Saturday 19th June, where the audience will experience all the elements of art, music, dance, photography and fashion.

Conner Kerr and his models from FAUX FASHION will start the show with a fantastic presentation of the latest fashions, and dancers from the Donna Whitten Dance Studio where Leigh first trained will also feature in the show.



Dancers Kyle Davey, Eddie Pezzopane and Michael Munoz, will take to the stage with Leigh Alderson to perform a collection of stunning ballet and neo-classical pieces, including a new work created especially for the night called '4 C'hrome Songs, and by special permission, Gira Con Me choreographed by Alan Foley, former principal dancer and currently the Artistic Director of Cork City Ballet in Ireland.



There will be a special premiere of the Jerry Burns film ANGEL starring Leigh Alderson and Kyle Davey, a striking male ballet pas de deux choreographed by Leigh Alderson.

Also on the night will be a silent auction of Award winning Dublin-based photographer, Karin Pritzels remarkable photography and art, including a limited edition print of the award winning picture 'Flight of Freedom', used as the official muse for New York fashion designer Malan Bretons 2010 Spring Collection, featured at New York Fashion Week.



Famed singer/songwriter Jerry Burns (soundtracks include the hit motion pictures: Cruel Intentions, Crush, Le Femme Nikita, Walking and Talking and more recently ANGEL) will end the night with her magnificent music and vocals.

An Intro To My Land - Leigh Alderson Music Ltd 2010 (c)

Well, for about two years i have been messing around with several music programs , creating actual tracks of music from little tunes i used to play on the piano years ago...

I like electro music, i like music heavily based with synthetic sounds, i also like chill out music, so i tried to bend these qualities together, and for someone like me , who wouldn't consider themselves a proper music artist, i feel rather proud of what i have accomplished. It has always been a dream of mine to release music and create an album , as i have a lot of passion for music, as its a huge part of dance and of ballet.

So i feel like now i can almost put my hand to anything, so i' ve made one major New Year resolution , 'Achieve it all' - 2010 is the year i started to really achieve and get to work on all the projects i have passion for and love and become successful whilst being very happy...

i hope this is one resolution i can keep!
